How to lose weight by pigging out? Are you kidding? You see the mind set that comes into play here? Almost everyone will connect dieting with misery. Just the thought of going on a diet will illicit gastric misery in your minds eye, right?
Well, you need to stop associating diets with gloom, despair and agony on you! Nearly every dieting Guru out there will preach Hell and brimstone concerning your diet. NO fat. No carbs. No sugar. No calories…NO…NO…NO… Makes you just want to hide in the closet and eat a pack of doughnuts with a nice cold glass of chocolate milk.
Now add insult to injury. Go ahead. Start that “NO” diet. Give yourself a few days and tell me how you feel. Happy? Full of energy? Grinning from ear to ear and spending all day on the phone telling all your friends that dieting is more fun that Christmas? Didn’t think so.
These type of diets only mess up your mind and your body. Your body begins thinking you are in some sort of trouble. You’ve gotten yourself thrown in the slammer somewhere deep in the Russian Gulag and now your body will respond with “starvation mode” in order to preserve both fat and muscle. You metabolism makes the switch your body tells it to and you begin retaining fat even at the expense of muscle as the diet progresses. Now, come off that diet at any time and watch your weight shoot to the moon. Another great response to that wonderful diet plan you’ve been on.
There is a better way than deprivation and starvation and best of all you get to choose just how much weight you want to lose while enjoying some really great belly busters. The key is to fill that fuel tank of yours in the proper fashion…read on.
Begin your eating binge with foods containing lots of water. Namely, lots of veggies and sweet fruits. As an added bonus choose fruits and veggies that have lots of water and a high fiber content. One caveat here though. Watch your salt intake. Drinking and eating lots of water can become a problem when consuming lots of salt as water rentention because the culprit. Make sure your choices include potassium rich foods as well as this will help eliminate the salt and…limit your salt intake anyway. Your body will thank you for years…no…the rest of your life.
Second, add lots of high fiber whole grains. Choose your breads and pasta made only from whole grains. Remember, high fiber fills you up so chow down.
Third, load up on nuts, beans and legumes. They fill you up and contain the protein and fiber your need to be successful on your diet. If you are not used to eating lots of beans in your diet not to worry. Your body will adjust after a couple of days. Think you will feel better by adding these to your daily diet? Darn tootin’.
Finally, choose meats that are lean and keep your portions small only eating them after filling up on the stuff I mentioned prior. Dark leafy veggies and lean meats provide a rich assortment of vitamins and iron your body needs.
Don’t forget to drink lots of water! It doesn’t have to be boring! Just make sure they are sugar free like iced teas and seltzers. Variety is the key here not only with your water but foods as well.
